I have to say that getting on the phone to chat with Chris Keach at the WBVF home talk radio station is a wonderful way to start the day.
We had a lot of fun reminiscing about the past and chatting about all the wonderful hikes in the White Mountains. Yes, it was nice to be able to tell everyone where they could find my book White Mountain Hikes; Legends, Mysteries and More (syktd) but that is second to sharing time with someone who has walked many of the same trails that I have.
Perhaps that is the best part about hiking. It's like meeting someone who lived in the same house you grew up in. You say things like, "Oh yeah, I used to pick apples from the neighbors yard, Mrs... what was her name?" There is a sort of remembrance when you hike, whether you've hike the trail before or not. I think that feeling we get is an innate sense we all have: we are part of nature by birthright.
I am really looking forward to having everyone's input as this website grows. Feel free to share your hikes, ask questions and send your favorite hiking pictures. We will be adding information and links here daily. Your thoughts and questions will make this webpage your very own hiking page.
I promise you that in no time you will not want to take a hike without stopping here first to check in.
So welcome to WhiteMountainHikes.com and I will see you on the trails.
